Peckforton

Cheshire

When it comes to sunsets, I am a pushover, so I could not pass up the chance to photograph this one.

On a ridge, not far from Beeston, this mock medieval castle stands in silhouette, on the northern extremity of the Peckforton Hills .

John Ttllemache had the castle built between the years, 1844 and 1850. He was British Conservative Member of Parliament for Cheshire South.

It was designed by the renowned Victorian architect Anthony Salvin and the total cost of building the castle, was said to be in the region of £60,000 or just over 5 or six million pounds sterling as of 2019.

It is still privately owned and is now a luxury hotel.
